STEM Innovation Center

Empowering Minds. Igniting Innovation.
Where Creativity
Meets Innovation.

Now open to all!
Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 3:45 p.m.

Vision Statement:

To be a hub of creativity, exploration, and transformation, nurturing the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.

Mission Statement

The Pensacola Catholic High School STEM Innovation Center is dedicated to inspiring, educating, and empowering students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We foster a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration, preparing students to excel in a rapidly evolving world.

Hours of Operation: Tuesdays and Thursdays directly after school until 3:45 p.m. The Crubotics Team and Woodworking Club will have first priority on space and tool usage. See the CHS Calendar for dates when they are meeting. (Note: 3D prints may be picked up between 7:15-7:40 a.m. or 30 minutes after school on any day)

Learning Workshops: Check back often to see if there are workshops being scheduled in the future.

Resources for Student and Faculty Use:

Classroom:

**3D Printers:** We have three Dremel 3D45 Printers that are managed in the cloud by 3D Printer OS. 3D printers allow innovators to create three-dimensional objects from digital designs. They are used for prototyping, engineering, and design projects. See our “How to Guide” for more information.

**Robotics Kits:** These kits can include components like microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and servos, allowing students to build and program robots for various applications. Kits may not be checked out.

**Collaboration Spaces:** Need space for working on a group project or tutoring? The collaboration space includes 2 hightop tables with seating for 5 people each, a display and document camera.

**WorkStation Desks:** We have space just for you to work on an individual project or clean up the 3D print.

**Storage and Project Space:** Can’t finish your project in a single day? We have a limited amount of storage space for you to house your project.

Shop:

**Safety:** Safety is our first priority in the workshop. Adequate safety measures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines are in place. These guidelines should be reviewed and agreed upon by both student and parent. Before any shop tools or equipment are used, a signed copy of the agreement must be presented to the STEM Supervisor.

**Tools:** Our shop facility includes a variety of hand and power tools such as drills, saws, soldering stations, and measurement instruments.

**Electronics:** soldering stations, for electronics-related projects and experiments. All other materials must be brought in by the individual.

**Laser Cutter/Engraver:** Laser cutters and engravers use focused laser beams to cut or engrave various materials with high precision. They are used for creating intricate designs, prototypes, and personalized items. See a STEM IC staff member for more details and training.

**CNC Router (Computer Numerical Control Router):** CNC routers are automated cutting machines that can precisely cut, carve, and engrave materials like wood, plastic, and metal based on computer-aided designs (CAD). They are commonly used in engineering, woodworking, and fabrication projects. See a STEM IC staff member for more details and training.

**Shaper Origin Handheld Router: Would like to cut out a small project that is still coming from a digital file? This is a safe way to learn how a Router works.

****Cricut Vinyl Cutter:** The Cricut is capable of cutting or drawing designs created with graphic design software. Vinyl stickers, iron-on t-shirts, signs, labels and more can be created with this machine. Innovation Center users will need to provide their own materials. Cricut materials can be purchased from Amazon, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and other retailers who sell craft supplies. The Innovation Center does not sell or provide materials for use with the Cricut. Basic training on how to operate the Cricut is available and many tutorials are available online. The Cricut uses blades to cut materials. Please do not put your hands or other objects in the cutting area.

STEM INNOVATION CENTER is manned by the PCHS Crubotics Team and Mentors. We would like to thank the support of the administration, as well as, the generous donations of Catholic High alumni, Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocesan Foundation, BEAR Foundation, and Blackwater River Tool Company.
